Role Overview

As a Principal Transmission Line Design Engineer, you will drive the delivery of cutting-edge HV transmission line designs (132kV – 500kV) across major infrastructure and renewable integration projects. You will serve as a key technical authority, lead multidisciplinary design teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and guide project delivery from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical design and review for HV transmission lines (AC/DC), including tower configuration, conductor selection, and route optimisation

Oversee and review PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE models and outputs

Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 7000, ASCE, BSEN, IEC, and other global standards

Provide strategic input into project planning, feasibility studies, and risk assessments

Mentor and lead design teams across multiple concurrent projects

Manage technical liaison with network service providers, developers, and EPC partners

Support tendering, procurement strategy, and construction planning

Act as a subject matter expert for clients and internal stakeholders across the business

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering

Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain

10+ years’ experience in transmission line design, including leadership roles

Advanced proficiency with PLS-CADD suite and structural design analysis

Proven track record delivering complex HV transmission projects in Australia or internationally

Deep understanding of National Electricity Rules (NER) and regulatory frameworks

Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities
