DASA is seeking a Service Manager for Aranda House Therapeutic Community in Alice Springs.

Aranda House is a twenty bed Therapeutic Community (TC) that offers a 12-week residential rehabilitation program. The Transitional After Care Unit is also attached to the Aranda House facility; this is semi-independent living supported by DASA staff and residents can stay for up to a year in this Program. This role also provides management oversight to DASA’s Independent Living Program.

The Service Manager - Aranda House, is responsible for leading the Team toward best practice in the Therapeutic Community Model. The position also undertakes a variety of other duties in the management and development of relevant programs in conjunction with other external service providers, together with regular reporting to senior management. The Service Manager - Aranda House plays a key role in maintaining service accreditation, ensuring a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement is fostered.

To be successful in this role you will need to be dynamic, resilient, innovative and, have the highest level of integrity. You will need to be passionate about reducing harm from alcohol and other drug use.

Key Responsibilities

Provide operational supervision to the Aranda House team of Case Managers and Support Workers

Plan, Coordinate & Problem Solve community issues, in collaboration with team members

Facilitate regular staff and client meetings

Drive stakeholder engagement to ensure service delivery remains at best practice and relevance to the client group

Role model healthy behaviours and maintain the highest of ethical standards

Manage and maintain client programming

Ensure quality of service provision throughout the stages of assessment, case management, program participation and exit

Coach and mentor staff and, provide linkage and reporting to Senior Management

Provide reports to funding bodies and the Senior Leadership team as required

Play an active role in the provision of a safe and high quality service for both clients and staff, complying with all WHS legislation, DASA Policy and Procedures and, engage enthusiastically in quality management processes

Required Qualifications

Diploma in Community Services (AOD, Mental Health, Case Management or Human Services), with at least 5 years relevant experience, including management roles. Suitably experienced candidates without the formal qualification may be considered.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

Essential

Exceptional communication skills and the ability to converse with a diverse range of residents, staff and stakeholders in a non-judgemental and culturally appropriate manner

An understanding of the harms that can occur from alcohol or other drug use

Ability to plan, coordinate and deliver program activities

Demonstrated understanding of collaborating respectfully with the Aboriginal people of Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and beyond

The ability to support staff to respond to challenging client behaviour

Relevant experience in staff management, including operational supervision, performance management, mentoring, conciliating and coaching

Experience in community services work, preferably a residential model of care

The ability to communicate with a high level of professionalism across all forms, including written, verbal and electronic

Demonstrated experience in case management, including review of treatment and exit plans, with the ability to support and guide case managers in this regard

Excellent time management capability, organisational skills and computer literacy

The ability to maintain the strictest of confidentiality at all times

Confidence in facilitating small group sessions with staff and / or clients

Desirable

An understanding of the elements of a Therapeutic Community

Familiar with the use of Mimaso client management system or similar

Special Conditions

The successful candidate must be able to meet the following requirements:

Hold a current and valid Drivers License

Ability to be ‘On-Call’ on a rotating roster basis

Hold a current Working With Children Clearance (NT) Ochre Card

Willing to work in a smoke free environment and undergo random drug & alcohol testing
