About the Opportunity
We’re seeking a Personnel Security Officer to join our Security team in Osborne, SA. This full-time onsite role supports ASC’s compliance with the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and other key frameworks. You’ll be responsible for workforce screening, background checks, and risk assessments to ensure the suitability of personnel working at ASC. This role would suit someone with an administrative or professional security vetting services background, particularly where attention to detail and documentation were key. You’ll be independent, proactive, and confident solving problems independently.
Responsibilities
- Administer AusCheck background checks and Naval Shipbuilding Sustainment Identification card (NSSIC) applications.
- Verify identity and eligibility of applicants in line with Australian Standards.
- Conduct workforce screening and ongoing suitability checks.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding personnel security matters.
- Maintain compliance with external key frameworks & ASC Privacy Principles.
- Undertake ongoing suitability checks and security risk assessments.
- Manage personnel information securely and in accordance with relevant legislation.
About You
- Experience in a previous administrative or professional security vetting services role.
- Experience managing sensitive and confidential personnel information, with a strong understanding of privacy protocols; experience within the Defence or Government sector is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of compliance, governance, and risk management frameworks.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Able to work independently and manage workload peaks effectively.
- High level of integrity, resilience, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
