Community Mental Health Clinician

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), Community Mental Health Service - Young – is looking for a motivated and skilled CAMHS Mental Health Clinician. In this role you will be responsible for delivering holistic, person-centred and trauma-informed care to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs and their families and carers. You will be collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan and deliver comprehensive, mental health care to the regional community of Young and surrounds.

Who we are:

The Young CMHAOD team has approximately 10 multidisciplinary clinicians and a range of support staff, who provide MH AOD services, across the life span. Young CMHAOD is collocated with Young Health Service.

We work closely with Medicare Mental Health and other community organisations to ensure people receive the right care for their needs. At a district level we have access to clinical leaders for MH, AOD and other specialty services such as Aboriginal Mental Health, eating disorders and Perinatal Infant Mental Health.

What you’ll be doing:

The focus is on Children and Adolescents with acute, complex or high needs who require a specialist mental health approach.

Identified outcomes are:

Successful therapeutic engagement with children and adolescents experiencing or at risk of developing severe mental illness.

Better experience of care through integrated and coordinated service models.

Prevention of unnecessary hospitalisations through timely access to appropriate and targeted clinical care

Active use of a multiagency care plan for the child or young person with, or at risk of, severe and complex mental illness, to help link providers across multiple services involved in a young person's care

Improved support for families and carers of children and adolescents experiencing severe mental illness

Our priority populations include school aged children and adolescents who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, are from culturally and linguistically diverse background, identify as LGBTIQ+, who are experiencing social and/or economic disadvantage, who are at risk of withdrawing from education or employment, who have experienced trauma, or who are at risk of hospitalisation.

What MHDA offer:

We have formal partnerships with a range of statewide health organisations who provide access to monthly education events, for example OCD Bounce, Project Air, CAPTOS and Mind Gardens. Internally we provide opportunities to meet and learn with your peers in other teams, participate in supervision for therapeutic practices, individual and group reflective practice and team huddles. We are also working toward offering a structured programme for new entrants into mental health that articulates with a graduate certificate.

Criteria:

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Qualification as per classification listed in position description

Membership of the peak body professional association for Social Workers or Occupational Therapists, Nurses AHPRA

NSW Working with children clearance
