Club General Manager – Genesis Health + Fitness Lawnton

As the Club General Manager at our Genesis Health + Fitness Lawnton club, you will be responsible for the operational success of your club. Your role will be to use your people leadership skills, sales and marketing flair, analytical capability, and management expertise to oversee all aspects of your club’s operations to create a thriving and growing Genesis Health + Fitness Club.

Genesis Health + Fitness Lawnton has been a part of the community for over 18 years and is one of North Brisbane’s premier health clubs. Locally owned and operated, our group includes Genesis Health + Fitness Lawnton and Windsor Clubs.

Our Lawnton club has recently undergone a full club upgrade with new strength equipment, new internal fit out and modern vibe. Our Club offers over 130 classes per week across our Reformer Pilates, Coaching Zone HIIT training, Group Fitness and Wellness classes, as well as a large open-plan gym floor, spacious functional zone, sauna & steam room, kids club childminding, and 24/7 access.

Job Description:

In this role, you’ll oversee all operational aspects of our business, whilst engaging, motivating and inspiring a high-quality team of Head of Department (HOD) leaders.

Your primary role will be to lead our HOD leaders to achieve our operational and business objectives and drive stronger member satisfaction.
You will also work closely with our Assistant Club Manager to enhance our sales and marketing activities, increase our member retention and engagement, and maintain a safe, clean, and motivating gym environment for all of our members and staff.

Ideal candidates will have previous fitness leadership experience, a strong understanding of sales and marketing in a fitness landscape, a passion for helping others, and a proactive and energetic attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Management: Drive the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring that your HOD leaders have the resources and structures available to achieve their business objectives. Your role will also be required to conduct weekly 1:1 and team meetings with HOD leaders to ensure oversight and impact, and conduct skills training on a regular basis.

Sales Management: Assist the Assistant Club Manager to plan and execute the sales and marketing activities, ensuring the team has the best possible environment to succeed.

People Leadership: Lead and inspire our team across all departments, from front of house and sales; to Kids Club and our diverse fitness teams. Your role will be responsible for overseeing all new hires and assisting with their training and development.

Drive Results: Drive our business operations to achieve club growth and revenue targets, increase membership levels and yields, and enhance member retention through innovative programs and strategies.

Member Satisfaction: Ensure a high level of member satisfaction by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, as well as delivering first-class customer service.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in a management role in a big-box health club environment (essential).

Proven sales experience within the fitness industry (essential).

Strong people management and leadership skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
