Murray Veterinary Services requires a stable hand to work alongside and assist our current team of three stable hands. This is casual position covering the breeding season from August 2025 to January 2026. Hours of work would be approximately 38 hours per week. These hours are worked over 5 days per week and requires one in 3 Sunday morning shifts. There is the potential for this position to become a permanent full time roll after January 2025 for the successful applicant.

The Position involves cleaning of stables and yards, moving of horses between yard, paddocks and hospital, feeding and watering of horses as well as being responsible for keeping stables, barns and grounds presented to a very high standard at all times. You will also be expected to hold horses for treatments and procedures and assist veterinarians where required as well as managing the daily care of our embryo transfer herd and assisting with stallion collections.

The successful applicant will need to have had experience handing and working with horses, be willing to complete tasks effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Have good observational and communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within our team. Our equine patient care, comfort and wellbeing is our number one priority and this role is essential in the provision of that care.
