About the role

Cairns Sheetmetal Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Tradesperson / Ductwork Fabricator to join our team in Cairns, Queensland. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to take on a leading hand position within our thriving organisation.

The leading hand position is offered as a progression opportunity within the role based on performance and experience.

What you'll be doing

Reading and interpreting technical drawings to fabricate high-quality HVAC ductwork and other sheetmetal products

Operating a range of metalworking machinery such as guillotines, folder and press brakes

Performing welding and brazing tasks to industry standards

Liaising with project managers and customers to ensure timely delivery of projects

Mentoring and supervising junior team members as a leading hand

Maintaining a safe and organised work environment

What we're looking for

Trade qualification in Sheetmetal Fabrication or a related discipline

Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the HVAC or construction industry

Excellent knowledge of sheetmetal fabrication techniques and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Proficient in the use of metalworking equipment such as guillotines, folders and press brakes

Strong welding and brazing skills to industry standards

Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supervising a team

A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Australian citizenship is required for this position
