About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our high-performing team at IGA Local Grocer Bowden.

This is a Level 3 Cook position under the General Retail Industry Award (GRIA) and is classified as shift work. The required shift runs from 4:45am to 8:30am, weekdays.

You will be responsible for the daily preparation of a range of fresh food items for our growing café offer, which is served through our busy checkout area. You’ll be working independently during these early hours to ensure the café range is ready for opening trade.

You will prepare:

Fresh baguettes, sandwiches, wraps, and salads

Cold rolls and sushi (desirable but not essential)

Other grab-and-go café items that are consistent with our brand and offer

We’re also looking for someone who enjoys contributing new ideas to expand and improve our menu offering.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing a consistent range of fresh food items daily

Maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene practices

Keeping the production area clean, organised, and efficient

Working autonomously and taking ownership of the café prep space

Suggesting and trialling new menu items

About You

You are an experienced Cook with strong food preparation skills and the ability to work independently in the early morning hours. You enjoy the pace and consistency of routine prep work but also bring creativity and initiative to your role.

You’ll bring:

Previous experience in a café, kitchen, or food prep environment

A strong understanding of food safety standards

Ability to manage your own time and workload

A proactive and reliable attitude

Desirable: Experience preparing cold rolls or sushi
