About the Role
Reporting to the Head Coach and working collaboratively with the coaching team, the core purpose of this role will be shaping the success of the team through data and video collection, meticulous analysis, insightful data interpretation and effective collaboration with coaching staff and players, ensuring the Kookaburras are best prepared to achieve medal success at benchmark events including the 2026 World Cup the 2028 LA Olympic Games and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with all aspects of the data collection and analysis for National Men’s High Performance Program, both in training and competition.
Ability to manage end-to-end analysis lifecycle, from data collection and manipulation through to delivery, reporting and education.
Assisting in building a high performance culture that actively embraces athlete wellbeing as a key pillar of an environment for sustained success. An environment where all feel safe, trusted, valued, and respected within the team.
Undertake agreed tasks within the Daily Training Environment (“DTE”) including training analysis and reporting.
Collaborating with the Head Coach and coaching team to develop appropriate match analysis reporting specific to the developed “way of play”.
Advanced opposition scouting and reporting.
Sharing of information to increase the collective knowledge of the high performance environment and the national hockey system.
Experience & Knowledge
Performance
Experience as a performance analyst for Hockey at the international level.
Understanding of the game including international performance success factors, identifying gaps and budling programs to address these areas.
Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
Excellent technology capabilities, with ability to expertly use common and specific video analysis tools.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present findings in a clear and concise manner utilising both video and data.
Outstanding time management and coordination ability.
Developing Individuals
Experience having the open, honest conversations while maintaining relationships
Understanding individual personal styles and motivation.
Understanding of frameworks for formal and informal feedback loops
Stakeholders
Experience building and sustaining trusting relationship with key stakeholders.
Experience creating a psychologically safe environment for staff and athletes
Experience working with a multi-faceted performance team
Vision, Culture, Strategy, Execution
Experience identifying culture issues and influencing positive change.
Experience setting strategy, executing on plans and monitoring impact.
