Your new role
As Lead Power Systems Engineer, you'll play a critical role in managing grid connection aspects across the sales, commissioning, and construction phases of utility-scale renewable energy projects. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant and competitive grid solutions, while overseeing technical and resource management throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing Balance of Plant (BoP) designs and documentation for compliance with standards and grid requirements
- Supporting power system studies and coordinating with grid modelling teams
- Ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of grid connection documentation
- Liaising with stakeholders to resolve grid connection issues
- Managing procurement, installation, and commissioning of grid monitoring and control systems
- Conducting compliance testing, model validation (R2), and generator registration with AEMO
- Engaging and managing external power systems consultancies
- Preparing technical responses and delivering presentations to clients
- Participating in safety, design, and risk workshops
- Reviewing tender specifications and assessing RFIs and payment claims
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
- RPEng or CPEng registration preferred
- Strong experience in grid connection compliance, ideally in wind farm projects
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, and PowerFactory
- Experience in substation electrical design and stakeholder negotiation
- Ability to manage consultants and designers in a construction environment
- Comfortable working in high-pressure project settings
