Educational and Disability Inclusion Coordinator
The Educational and Disability Inclusion Coordinator will work with young people living in out of home care, who have experienced significant trauma, disabilities, and complexities which may have resulted in school disengagement or developmental delays. The Educational and Disability Inclusion Coordinator works side by side with the young person and their Care Team to construct and enact an education engagement plan. They ensure the young person is supported academically and socially by identifying learning barriers, implementing adjustments, developing strategies and collaborating with Schools, Care Teams, DFFH and other stakeholders. They ensure the young person’s voice is captured and advocate for them to ensure they have the best opportunity to meet their educational and social goals.

Key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role will:
Develop rapport with the young person and their family to support the young person to identify goals and work towards sustained education
Develop positive relationships to establish rapport and trust
Increase school engagement and attendance
Advocate for the young person to achieve the best outcomes
Improve literacy, numeracy, personal and social capabilities.
Develop collaborative partnerships with schools, Care Teams, Lookout and other stakeholders
Attend SSG meetings and assist with goal planning.
Develop educational routines that are consistent with the young person’s school for house staff and the young person to follow
Ensure the young person has all the resources and equipment they need to achieve their educational goals.
Assist with the implementation of communication tools and aids if required.
Development and regular review of comprehensive engagement plan with the young person to identify and support their education re-engagement goals.
Coordinate and implement tailored interventions designed to enhance a young person’s capacity and functioning and ultimately increase their school attendance.
Provide 1:1 tutoring if required.
Liaise with the school to ensure an IEP is completed for all young people.
To be successful, you’ll need:
Certificate III in Education Support
Demonstrated experience working with schools and vocational training providers
Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behaviours of concern, ASD, ADD/ADHD, developmental delays and trauma.
Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent developmental needs
Capacity and experience in planning and implementing appropriate interventions
Proven capacity to liaise appropriately with consultants and other professionals
Demonstrated experience in being able to advocate for a young person.
Evidence of Relevant Qualifications.
Proof of Right to Work in Australia.
Current Employment Working with Children Check.
Current Drivers Licence.
Disqualified Carers Check.
Satisfactory National Policy Check & International Police Check if required.
NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
First Aid Certificate and current CPR.
