About us:
Bluewater Village Early Learning is a family owned and operated centre, owned by John Wall and directed by Angie Kelly.
Our team is passionate about creating environments where children will thrive each day, learning through hands on interactions indoors and outdoors. We aim to 'bring back the wildhood' in childhood and we have a lot of fun.
Our programs incorporate a variety of animals friends that live at our service, including fish and marine life in salt water aquarium, lizards, snakes, guinea pigs, goats, chickens, birds and frogs.
Having our animals in the service creates a very unique opportunity as a Ranger in an early learning setting.
About the role:
Our Ranger is responsible for the care and feeding of our various animals and implementing our Animal Education and Little Rangers program. The role entails:
· Preparing and providing appropriate food and water to each animal
· Regular cleaning of enclosures and the bard yard
· Ordering of food, hay, and any equipment required for care of animals
· Picking up animal supplies on occasion
· Observing each animal’s overall health and physical condition, and animal maintenance such as clipping nails, worming, lice treatments etc.
· Organising vet visits and check-ups as needed
· Regular visits to each room facilitating the Animal Education program, where children learn about the animals in our centre, and others in the community
· Facilitating the Little Rangers program, where small groups of children assist with feeding and care of animals
· Ensuring any licenses or permits required are up to date
Role Requirements:
· Childcare qualifications would be an advantage for the educational aspects of this role, however not essential
· Experience working with and handling a variety of animals
· Comfortable handling snakes and reptiles
· Comfortable with some aspects of the role being outdoors
· Able to work 37.5 hours per week
· Be available on occasion to attend on long weekends
· Have, or willing to obtain a working with children check (blue card)
· Have, or willing to obtain first aid and CPR certifications
Permanent part time position:
· This is a maternity leave position, to start immediately to allow adequate training before taking over the role officially after Christmas 2025
· The position will be a one-year contract, with the potential of extending
· Must be available 37.5 hours per week, with shift time to be negotiated for shifts anywhere between 6:00am and 4:30pm
· You have permanent working rights in Australia for the time period required (if you require sponsorship or have limited work hours, please do not apply as we are unable to provide this)
