Expression Of Interest : Seasonal Fire Crew – North & Central QLD (TSV/Weipa & Rockhampton) - 2026 season (April–October).
About the role:
Centrogen is seeking motivated and safety-conscious people to join our Seasonal Fire Crew across North Queensland (Townsville & Weipa) and Central Queensland (Rockhampton Region). These positions support our fire mitigation program, helping to reduce fuel loads, maintain access tracks, and respond to fire events over the declared fire danger period.
We’re planning ahead for our busy 2026 season (April–October) and are now welcoming Expressions of Interest to join our team during this period.
This is a hands-on, physically demanding outdoor role that requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong focus on safety. Crew members may be deployed locally or across the state depending on operational needs. Willingness to perform extended living away from home rosters, up to 2 weeks duration.
Your day may include:
Carrying out fire preparation, mitigation works and hazard reduction works
Operate and maintain firefighting tools, machinery and vehicles
Supporting fire response operations, including frontline firefighting duties when required
Performing vegetation management tasks such as weed control and clearing drains
Assisting with inspections and reporting on fire readiness activities
Ensuring safety standards are followed for yourself, your crew and the community
Skills & Experience:
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work safely, follow directions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in hot, remote and rugged conditions
Current manual Driver’s Licence (essential)
Prior firefighting, rural fire brigade, vegetation or land management experience (desirable)
Tickets for chainsaw, chemical application, or 4WD operations (desirable)
First Aid Certification (desirable)
Crew Member (Firefighting Operations) Certifications
The following units are required. Training will be provided to suitable candidates to complete any outstanding units

procedures in forest and wood products operations
PUAEQU001 Prepare, maintain and test response equipment
PUAFIR204 Respond to wildfire
PUAFIR210 Prevent injury
PUAOPE013 Operate communications systems and equipment
PUATEA001 Work in a team
PUAFIR402 Conduct simple prescribed burns
PUAFIR406 Develop simple prescribed burn plans
PUAFIR506 Conduct complex prescribed burns
PUAFIR515 Develop complex prescribed burn plans
Additional requirements:
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen
Availability to work on a roster including weekends, public holidays and call-outs during fire danger periods
Commitment to completing mandatory training prior to deployment
