About the Opportunity
Central Australian Women’s Legal Service (CAWLS) is looking for a full-time Youth Lawyer, Educator based in Alice Springs, NT.
This unique position is partially based at Centralian Senior College, and delivers legal support, education and advocacy to students, staff and families — with remote outreach a core component.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Delivering legal advice, case work and referrals to students and families
Preparing and facilitating tailored community legal education sessions
Providing legal support in partnership with the School Wellbeing Team
Conducting remote outreach to engage with and support regional schools
Advocating in collaboration with school and CAWLS colleagues
Collecting and analysing case data using internal systems
Supporting school staff to respond to DFSV disclosures and access barriers
Addressing legal issues impacting students’ educational engagement
About You
To qualify, you will need to be eligible to hold a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory. Experience in legal practice, particularly with vulnerable youth or in school/community settings, will be highly regarded.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Experience working in legal settings relevant to DFSV, family or youth law
Experience delivering legal education or community programs in schools
Ability to develop tailored legal education and training resources
Familiarity with CALD and First Nations communities
Strong understanding of legal, economic and social barriers facing youth
As our ideal candidate, you will demonstrate empathy, adaptability and a passion for working in innovative, non-traditional legal settings. You’ll be an excellent communicator and team collaborator with the resilience to work in trauma-informed environments.

Please note: This is a female-identified position under Sections 30 and 34 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984. You must also hold (or be eligible to obtain) a current NT Driver’s Licence, Ochre Card, and National Police Check.
