Cook – Lakeview Transitional Accommodation Centre (Port Augusta)

We’re looking for an experienced Cook to join the team at Lakeview Transitional Accommodation Centre in Port Augusta. In this role, you’ll prepare and serve nutritious evening meals, maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen, and help ensure residents are well supported. We value cultural awareness and respect for all Aboriginal groups and communities, and expect our team to work in an inclusive and culturally sensitive way.

You’ll be part of a team of cooks, working on a roster that’s shared and flexible to support work-life balance.

This is a hands-on, rewarding role where your work directly contributes to resident wellbeing and community care.

Weekdays: $36.68/hr

Saturday: $45.90/hr

Sunday: $52.55/hr

Public Holidays: $72.13/hr

Afternoon/early evening hours – be home every night.

Key Responsibilities

Cook and serve evening meals for residents (45–60 per day).

Work collaboratively with other cooks on a flexible roster.

Ensure dietary requirements are met and menus reflect resident needs.

Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment.

Manage stock levels, shopping lists, and correct storage of food.

Assist with menu planning and occasional special events.

About You

Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred).

Strong knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen hygiene practices.

Reliable, organised, and confident working both independently and as part of a team.

Positive attitude and a passion for cooking for the community.

Understanding, respect, and acceptance of the diversity of Aboriginal cultures and communities, and a willingness to work in a culturally sensitive and inclusive way.
