Carina Heights Child Care & Development is a proudly privately-owned early childhood education and care service, recognised for exceeding the National Quality Standard. Our service provides high-quality education and care for children aged from birth to kindergarten, and we are open Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year, from 7 am to 6 pm.
Position: Centre Chef
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef who loves food and understands the important role nutrition plays in early childhood development. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for children from infancy to school age and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare a variety of healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks.
Maintain kitchen hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness in accordance with regulations.
Manage food stock levels, ordering supplies as needed.
Collaborate with educators and families to develop and adapt menus based on children’s needs, cultural diversity, and dietary requirements.
Use Feed Australia tools to align with nutritional guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Maintain and implement the centre’s Food Safety Plan and keep accurate records.
Accommodate allergies, intolerances, and dietary restrictions appropriately.
Support the centre’s nutrition advocate in delivering the Get Up and Grow program.
Incorporate and respect Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in food practices.
Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and team members.

Role Requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Chef in an early childhood or similar setting.
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
Knowledge of food safety standards and experience with compliance.
Skills in menu planning, budgeting, and record keeping.
Strong communication, time-management, and organisational skills.
Current Blue Card (Working with Children) and National Police Check.
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) preferred.
Certificate in Menu Planning and Nutrition is desirable.
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certificates preferred.
