The Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly and kitting of hydraulic components and accessories. The primary objectives of this position are as follows:

Assembly, Kitting and Testing of hydraulic components and accessories by interpreting work orders and specifications.

Achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity to meet customer expectations and requirements, optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.

Maintain safe and clean work environment using 5s principle (sort, set, shine, standardise and sustain), maintaining strict compliance with established policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble, Kitting and Testing of hydraulic components and accessories by interpreting work orders and specifications.

Collect materials and equipment required to begin the assembly or kitting process.

Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly or kitting instructions, specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.

Perform material handling functions to pick stock required to complete the task.

Assemble parts and subassemblies by using tools, basic machinery and jigs and fixtures required to complete the task.

Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.

Take weekly inventory count of gasket kits and assemble to stock products to ensure they are available in stock. Inform Supervisor – Production and Assembly or Operations Manager to create work orders for these items.

Maintain quality service by following organisation standards ensuring parts assembled is of highest quality standards.

Achieve daily production target in terms of quality and quantity to meet customer expectations and requirement, maintaining operational excellence and key performance indicators.

Operate basic machinery required for the assembly or kitting of parts while following strict safety guidelines.

Communicate with engineering and sales staff to ensure consistency and troubleshoot any issues with work orders, bill of materials, assembly processes or customer orders.

Liaise with Purchasing or Operations Manager in relation to product quality or any stock shortages on consumables required for the task.

Identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies and ensure inventory is stored in its correct location.

Maintain safe and clean work environment using 5s principle (sort, set, shine, standardise and sustain), maintaining strict compliance with established policies and procedures.

Demonstrate and promote a proactive commitment to health & safety, wellbeing and the environment whilst complying with company policies and procedures.

Support companywide initiatives to improve service levels to our customers.

Participate in annual or cyclic stocktake.

Special projects as assigned by the Supervisor – Production and Assembly.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Basic Mechanical Knowledge or Minimum 2 years’ experience in assembly.

Good knowledge of assembly and quality management.

Continual process improvement.

Understanding of hydraulics processes and components would be advantageous.

Ability to follow production schedule.

Interpret Engineering drawings and specifications.

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage all aspects of the role at times in a pressurised environment.
