The Opportunity

Lead the technical delivery of enterprise-grade applications that directly impact millions of Australians. This role offers technical leadership, hands-on delivery, and the chance to shape architectural decisions in a large-scale government program.

As Principal / Lead Developer, you will drive best practice coding, mentor developers, and play a key role in ensuring system quality, scalability, and alignment with modern digital standards.

The Role

As Principal / Lead Developer, your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing modern applications using .NET Core, C#, Angular and React
• Leading a team of developers across secure, multi-tier applications
• Establishing coding standards, peer reviews, and technical quality frameworks
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps
• Collaborating with architects, business analysts, and testers to deliver integrated solutions
• Guiding technical design and solution decisions for system modernisation projects
• Mentoring junior developers and uplifting capability across the team

The Ideal Person

You are a seasoned developer with leadership capability, equally comfortable writing clean code and guiding teams through complex delivery challenges.

You thrive in Agile environments, enjoy working in close partnership with business and technical stakeholders, and are motivated by contributing to a mission-critical national program.

You will bring:

• Deep expertise in .NET Core, C#, Angular, and React
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring development teams
• Familiarity with Agile delivery and DevOps tooling (Azure DevOps preferred)
• Strong understanding of cloud-based application development and integration
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Bonus if you have:

• Formal certifications in Microsoft technologies or cloud platforms
• Experience in secure government environments
• Exposure to enterprise-scale architecture or system modernisation

Please Note this opportunity is only open to Australian Citizen’s with minimum Baseline Clearance as per the requirement of the Federal Government.

Salary / Rate

• $140 per hour - $170 per hour including 12% superannuation
