About the role
Gringai Aboriginal Corporation is seeking multiple Drivers - Assisted School Transport to join our team in the Maitland, Hunter, Newcastle regions NSW. The AST Driver supports students by providing transport to and from the student's school and other sites within designated route(s) and to ensure the safety of the student passengers while in a vehicle. AST Drivers receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures and attend training relevant to supporting the individual needs of students. The AST Driver is responsible for the safe operation of a designated vehicle and for ensuring the safety of student passengers while meeting established vehicle schedules. Drivers may be assigned to drive wheelchair buses and provide additional transport services.

What you'll be doing

Driving a school bus or van to transport students to and from school locations

Assisting students with boarding and disembarking the vehicle safely

Maintaining supervision of students during transport

Performing daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks

Adhering to all traffic laws and transportation regulations

Providing excellent customer service to students and their families

What we're looking for

Required

Hold a current unrestricted Drivers Licence

Holds a safe driving record and be free of restrictions

Valid Working with Children’s Check

Valid National Criminal Check

Valid NDIS Worker Screen Check

Desired

Minimum two (2) years’ experience

Current first Aid certificate

Previous experience working in the education sector
