Cognoscenti Food & Wine is a vibrant restaurant in Belgrave, nestled in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges – just 50 minutes from Melbourne CBD. We combine fresh, seasonal local produce with European flair to create a warm and memorable dining experience for our guests.

Since opening in February 2022, we’ve experienced steady growth and have just completed major renovations in preparation for a busy summer season. With extended trading days and hours, we’re looking to expand our small, professional team and welcome dedicated new members who can fit right in.

At Cognoscenti, you’ll be working alongside hands-on owners who are actively involved in the day-to-day running of the restaurant. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive, collaborative environment where everyone contributes to creating the best possible guest experience.

About the Role

We’re seeking experienced waitstaff to join us in permanent part-time roles (20–30 hours per week). Coffee and bar experience is an advantage but not essential. What matters most is a genuine passion for hospitality and the ability to work well in a close-knit team.

Night and weekend availability is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Greet and seat guests with warmth and professionalism

Take accurate food and beverage orders using the POS system

Provide attentive, seamless service throughout the guest experience

Take ownership of a section, ensuring all tables are well looked after from start to finish

Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming dining environment

Process guest payments through the POS system

Work collaboratively with colleagues and owners to ensure timely and accurate service

Handle guest inquiries or concerns with efficiency and care

Qualifications & Experience

Demonstrated experience as waitstaff in a quality dining environment

Confidence in food and beverage service (wine knowledge desirable, but training can be provided)

Strong customer service and communication skills

Ability to stay calm and efficient in a fast-paced setting

Excellent attention to detail and a positive, team-first attitude
