We are currently seeking experienced Chemists’ to join our fast-growing East Coast team and clients, working across our client’s St Mary’s site.

Chemist – Weekend Collections
Roster: 6 Months Initial Casual Duration with potential to extend.
Saturday and Sunday Shifts

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sort and classify a range of liquid and paint-based household hazardous wastes
• Prevent incompatible chemicals from mixing, ensuring safe onsite segregation
• Work closely with site teams to ensure correct labelling, packaging, and documentation
• Provide technical support to staff and members of the public on acceptable waste types
• Ensure compliance with EPA regulations and Cleanaway’s HSEQ policies

Documentation & Quality

• Compile accurate manifests for quoting and waste classification.
• Maintain high standards in documentation, paperwork, and reporting.

Team & Stakeholder Support

• Assist site management and operators with waste assessment, sampling, labelling, and treatment.
• Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager, Operations Supervisor, and Branch Manager.
• Engage with customers for technical requirements and support.

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Applied Science, or related field
• Solid knowledge of chemical compatibility and hazardous waste handling
• Familiarity with NSW EPA waste classification guidelines
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Comfortable working outdoors on weekends and engaging with the public
• Drivers License and own transport required
