About the Role

As a Casual Locomotive Driver Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services. You’ll work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This role offers valuable hands-on experience, where you’ll assist in a variety of rail operational tasks while being supported by a dedicated team.

Your Training Journey

Initial paid classroom & practical training (38 hours per week).

Assist in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

For the duration of the classroom training program, you will be paid $30.35 gross per hour plus super.

Local: Residing in or near Greta/Newcastle.

Requirements

Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment

Current full Class C or higher Driver’s Licence (no restrictions)

Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes)

Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Basic computer skills

Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments
