ABOUT THE ROLE
St John NT is currently seeking a Work Health and Safety Field Officer to join its People and Culture team. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including conducting audits and inspections, managing emergency protocols, and handling hazardous materials and dangerous goods. A successful WHS officer will demonstrate excellent communication skills and problem-solving capabilities to foster and uphold a safe working environment.
The selected candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Overseeing and managing St John NT’s chemical database system, which includes conducting risk assessments and ensuring the safe use of chemicals.
- Performing hazard identification, incident investigations, corrective actions, workplace inspections, and risk assessment activities, including necessary reviews.
- Assisting in the rollout of new policies and procedures throughout St John NT.
- Proactively identifying and recommending improvements to work practices and outcomes.
- Conducting workplace inspections and internal audits while ensuring compliance with incident reporting and investigation processes.
ABOUT YOU
- Ideally hold a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification
- 1–3 years of relevant industry experience
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, databases, and various software packages
- Strong background in HRIS and other HR tools
This position will require some travel to some of our regional locations.
