The location and Lifestyle:

Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighbouring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the area.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Boilermakers and Fitter to join our team. The position of Boilermakers and Fitter requires certain physical demands and exposure to challenging environments that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, work at heights and other exertions associated with manual roles as well as a strong commitment to safety while working in an operational mine site environment.

Key Responsibilities – Boilermaker:

Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance and plant Welding/fabricating repairs

Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely.

Undertake maintenance, modifications, and fitting of heavy equipment or structures.

Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.

Work collaboratively with the workshop team to meet production schedules.

Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in Boilermaker or a related field.

Boilermaker Trade qualification

Key Responsibilities – Fitter:

Maintaining a wide variety of fixed plant mine site equipment Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.

Ability to work autonomously or as part of a large team

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Work efficiently whilst providing quality workmanship

Troubleshooting and completing diagnostics where required

Must be a trade qualified fitter with experience in a similar field

EWP, Forklift & confined space tickets are highly advantageous

Welding experience will be considered advantageous

Key Selection Criteria:

Minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience (essential)

Previous mining and processing experience (desirable)

Strong mechanical aptitude

Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills

Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the company

Exceptional attention to detail and strong observational skills

Current C Class Driver’s Licence (essential)

Queensland Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence (desirable)

Additional Requirements for Working at Mt Carbine:

The ability to pass a pre-employment medical

Australian Criminal History Check

Requirement to live within 100 km of Mt Carbine Mine. This position is DIDO
