Our client is a leading automotive company responsible for the efficient distribution of imported vehicles across Australia and New Zealand. Their Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Vehicle Logistics team drives operational excellence through innovative storage, transit, and preservation processes.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and organised Logistics Project Lead on a 12 months contract (possibility of extension) to manage key logistics initiatives including the rollout of a new Super Storage site in Melbourne, redevelopment of the transit damage claim process, and establishment of vehicle preservation services.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong project management skills, operational oversight, and the ability to work across multiple facilities and stakeholders. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth transitions, cost efficiency, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Super Storage Site Project Management:
Plan, coordinate, and manage the rollout of a new storage megasite in Melbourne.
Agree timelines and deliverables with stakeholders and manage execution over 12 months.
Document SOPs, establish best practices, and oversee supplier compliance.
Audit suppliers to ensure services meet contractual and safety standards.
Transit Damage Claims Redevelopment:
Manage and improve current processes.
Reduce costs and turnaround times while maintaining quality standards.
Present alternatives for process improvements, including third-party management options.
Standardise processes across suppliers.
Vehicle Preservation Services:
Establish and document SOPs for preservation services.
Conduct regular audits and address non-compliance with suppliers.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal teams, including Finance, Quality, and Customer Service.
Engage with local and international suppliers, occasionally outside normal business hours.
Reporting and KPIs:
Provide weekly status updates on all projects.
Meet agreed timelines and budgets.
Deliver audit results and business cases for process improvements.
About You
Strong background in transport, logistics, or supply chain management (finished vehicle logistics preferred).
Experience in project management and process improvement.
Advanced computer and analytical skills (Excel, Visio, project management tools).
Independent, hands-on, and detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
Excellent communicator, able to liaise with diverse local and international stakeholders.
Current Victorian Driver’s Licence and flexibility to travel across multiple Melbourne facilities (Truganina, Altona, and other local facilities).
Ability to work occasionally outside normal hours for international meetings.
Creative thinker with the ability to problem-solve and optimise processes.
