PORT PIRIE REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICE

Port Pirie Regional Health Service is a 52-bed acute facility offering a comprehensive range of services, including Emergency, Peri-operative, Renal Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Birthing, Outpatient Services, and Acute Medical and Surgical care. The facility also includes the co-located Residential Aged Care Facility, Hammill House.

With over 15,000 presentations through the Emergency Department annually, along with surgical and direct admissions spanning all age groups, the service is supported by an onsite medical team as well as SA Pharmacy, SA Pathology, SA Dental Service, and SA Medical Imaging.

Port Pirie Regional Health Service – Acute Medical /Palliative Care Unit (Ward A) – Enrolled Nurses

Port Pirie Acute Medical/Palliative Care Unit (Ward A) is a dynamic service dedicated to providing comprehensive, person-centred care for patients across the lifespan.

The unit focuses on timely and thorough assessment, treatment, and medical care, specialising in managing acute medical conditions of varying acuity—including paediatric patients, mental health presentations, and palliative care.

Working in Ward A, you will be encouraged and supported to further develop specialist skills in areas such as:

• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry
• Advanced Life Support, including participation in the Medical Emergency Response (MER) Team
• Palliative and End of Life Care
• Mental Health Management

Port Pirie Surgical Ward/Delivery Suite (Ward C) is a dynamic service providing comprehensive care for post-operative patients, postnatal women, and newborns.

The acute surgical unit specialises in post-operative care for orthopaedic, ENT, general surgery, urology, endoscopic, and dental patients. It also includes a midwifery-led delivery suite.

The unit is supported by a team of highly skilled and dedicated medical, nursing, allied health, and support staff who work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive care that aligns with each patient’s individual care goals.

• Registered Nurse: Permanent P/T, 1.98 FTE (Various positions)
• Enrolled Nurse: Permanent P/T, 0.21 FTE (8 hours per week)

Port Pirie Regional Health Service – Renal Dialysis Unit – Registered Nurses

The Port Pirie Dialysis Unit operates as an outreach satellite of the Central Northern Adelaide Renal and Transplantation Service.

This 4-chair facility provides comprehensive haemodialysis services to patients across Port Pirie and the wider Mid North region. Running two sessions per day, six days a week (Monday to Saturday), the unit ensures accessible, high-quality care for the community.
