The successful candidate must be available to undergo a full-time handover period in the later half of Term 4, transitioning to full appointment in 2026.
As a small, independent primary school grounded in Neohumanist principles, we offer a nurturing, values-based education that celebrates the interconnectedness of all life. Our holistic approach places love, respect, creativity and ecological awareness at the heart of learning, while ensuring strong academic outcomes through adherence to the Australian Curriculum.
A core principle of the River School is supporting children to realise their full potential and cultivate their already innate capacity for love and compassion, expanding gradually a student’s sense of community: from self, to family, locality, country, humanity, life on earth and ultimately the universe.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide strong, values-driven leadership and strategic direction
• Ensure curriculum delivery aligns with both Neohumanist principles and national standards
• Cultivate positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the broader community
• Manage school operations effectively and collaboratively with the School Board
• Lead staff development and support a culture of continuous improvement
Selection Criteria
• Capacity to manage effectively human, financial and physical resources to deliver high quality outcomes.
• Understanding of or willingness to engage deeply with Neohumanist philosophy
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop and sustain productive relationships within and beyond the school community.
