A bit about the role

Join the Customer and Digital team as a Data Engineer, where you’ll design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and warehouses that make customer data accessible, reliable, and actionable.

You’ll work with cutting-edge cloud platforms, ETL workflows, and master data management systems to support business intelligence, analytics, and decision-making across the organisation.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams, optimise large-scale data systems, and contribute to continuous improvements in data infrastructure, all while upholding the Council’s values and commitment to a safe, inclusive, and innovative community.

What you’ll deliver

• Reliable, efficient data pipelines that keep customer data accurate, accessible and ready for use.
• Clean, well-structured data models and warehouses to power analytics, reporting and machine learning.
• Scalable solutions that handle both batch and real-time data processing.
• High data quality through validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes.
• Continuous improvements in performance, efficiency, and modern data engineering practices.

What you’ll bring

• Experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ETL workflows, and data models.
• Strong SQL skills, with programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Hands-on exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and big data tools.
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to debug, optimise and improve data workflows.
• Great communication skills and a collaborative style, working confidently across technical and business teams.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
• A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
