About the Role:
Join the dynamic team at Curtin School of Population Health as a Lecturer (ALB) or Senior Lecturer (ALC), where you'll provide leadership for the Master of Dietetics Programme and engage in relevant research. This full-time, permanent role emphasises innovative curriculum design, delivering exceptional learning experiences, and fostering a rich academic environment that encourages student engagement. The school is open to part-time job share arrangements for suitable candidates.
We seek an experienced academic dietitian with a passion for teaching and research, committed to integrating scholarship and professional practice into their teaching. You will lead or coordinate fellow dietetic staff, driving collaborative initiatives to enhance the educational experience and inspire the next generation of professionals in the field.
Relevant industry experience and connections for placement-based professional delivery are essential for this role as you inspire and guide the next generation of professionals in your field.
Your responsibilities will include:
Teaching
- Provide strategic leadership and lead curriculum development of the Master of Dietetics programme.
- Develop and deliver high-quality learning to postgraduate dietetics students, including tutorials, workshops, and placement supervision.
- Assess student work and coordinate several units.
- Engage in ongoing improvement in teaching methods.
Research
- Build research capability to conduct competitive and a high-quality dietetics discipline research and/or scholarship of learning and teaching program and seeking funding as a co or chief investigator.
- Share findings through publications, seminars, and conferences
- Provide supervision to postgraduate research students.
- Build research collaborations with external stakeholders and aim for national recognition in your research field and manage related administrative tasks.
Engagement
- Build collaborations with external stakeholders to establish and maintain industry links.
- Advance the profession and discipline through active participation in Dietitians Australia and the Council of Deans of Nutrition & Dietetics Aust NZ.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture and collegial activities across the university.
Selection Criteria – who we are looking for:
- Accredited Practicing Dietitian recognised by Dietitians Australia with a doctoral qualification in Dietetics or relevant discipline.
- Ability to demonstrate, high-level teaching skills and a reflective approach to teaching delivery.
- Experience with applying Dietitians Australia National Competency Standards, Accreditation Standards for Dietetics Education Programs and experience in assessing performance of dietetic students on professional practice program.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory, contemporary educational practices, and a record of scholarship in teaching, including unit/course coordination relevant to the discipline.
- Evidence of an emerging research or scholarship of learning and teaching outputs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering a collegial environment and interacting with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Commitment to applying relevant policies and procedures in daily responsibilities.
Level C (in addition to the above)
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead curriculum development, mentor less experienced staff, supervise HDR students, lead research initiatives.
- Research outputs in high-quality academic journals, a history of successful competitive grant applications, and evidence of a growing national and/or international profile.
Desirable
- Demonstrated industry experience in dietetics at an advanced practice level.
- Capacity to contribute to research grants and ability to supervise research projects.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
