The Role
Maximum term contract to 15 September 2026, part time 45.6 hours a fortnight.
We are seeking a qualified Counsellor with children’s counselling experience to join our Family & Relationship Services program located at our Midland office. This role is primarily to provide counselling to enhance the healthy functioning of individuals and families. This service is designed to provide education, support and counselling for individuals and families to assist them in forming and maintaining healthy relationships.
A few specifics:
- Assessments and support planning.
- Selecting and providing appropriate brief intervention counselling for clients including children 5 years and older.
- Assessing supports and ensuring that they are appropriate to meeting client's needs.
- Referring and assisting clients to access appropriate mainstream specialist services and support groups; and
- Providing information and education to clients, families and other service providers, including assisting in delivering group workshops.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work/Sciences, Mental Health, Counselling, Childhood Development and/or Family studies and related disciplines or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in providing evidence-based counselling to individuals, including children, with complex needs e.g. domestic violence, homelessness, abuse, schooling issues.
- Experience in family law or post separation services is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and case planning.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary service to support client needs.
- National Police Certificate.
- Working with Children Check.
