The opportunity

Vacenti is seeking a full-time Barista to join the Hotel Services Team across our Portofino site, located at Hamilton, Casa Damore site, located at Coorparoo and Marebello site, located at Victoria Point, Queensland. Reporting to, and working closely with the Head Chefs, this role will provide exceptional customer service to our residents, family, and friends of our residents and all Vacenti staff at the Portofino café. The Barista is responsible for the preparation, sale and delivery of all items available for purchase at the Café. The Barista role will also engage in the responsible service of alcohol across our licensed venues and ensure that all state rules and regulations regarding the responsible service of alcohol are adhered to.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Engaging with all customers (residents, families, friends, and staff) and delivering exceptional and person-centred services.

Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol if they have opted to purchase alcohol.

Carrying out basic food preparation, i.e., washing, peeling, dicing, cutting, grilling, roasting, and baking.

Preparing and serving various food & beverages, including alcohol to residents and their friends and family.

Receiving deliveries from suppliers and packaging food and beverages for sale.

Assist with the setup & pack up of catering events.

Clearing waste & general cleaning including but not limited to crockery, cutlery, service utensils, kitchen surfaces according to hygiene standards.

Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations including temperature checks, allergen guidelines and labelling requirements.

Operating machinery, such as coffee machine, toasters, mixers, and blenders.

Coordinating, managing, and organising the Café inventory and ordering stock as required.

Engage in menu planning for the café.

Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to customers, balancing the cash register.

To be successful in this position you will need:

A responsible service of Alcohol certificate from a recognised training provider

Possess good customer Service and rapport building skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience as a Barista, bartender and/or other hospitality roles.

Ability to identify risks, such as intoxicated customers or underage customers by following the responsible service of alcohol guidelines.

Must meets Queensland’s minimum age to serve alcohol.

Demonstrated knowledge of standard knowledge of beverage measurements, pours and standard drinks.

Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.

Reasonable level of spoken and written English literacy skills.

A current National Police Certificate.

Has initiative and work independently.

Knowledge of the point-of-sale equipment and basic cash management

Is committed to safe work practises such as chemical or cleaning agent management.
