The Role

EGC is seeking a passionate and skilled Design and Technologies teacher to join their dedicated and high-performing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking school community that values innovation, creativity, and excellence in education. Ideally, the successful applicant should have the ability to deliver engaging and practical lessons in one or more Design and Technologies areas, with a particular focus on Metal. Experience in delivering advanced or specialised courses is highly desirable.

The successful applicant should ideally be a motivated and creative educator who can inspire learners through hands-on, problem-solving activities that promote critical thinking and innovation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are well regarded, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. A willingness to contribute to wider school life, including student wellbeing and co-curricular programs, is also important. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in shaping the future of Design and Technologies education within a progressive and supportive educational setting.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Eastern Goldfields College in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
