About Us:
Headquartered in Canberra, the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) is the peak national industry body representing the forest products supply chain.
AFPA represents all elements of the supply chain from the sustainable harvesting of plantations and multiple-use natural forest resources, including forest establishment and management, harvesting and transportation of timber resources and manufacture of timber, wood, pulp, paper and bioproducts.
About the role:
AFPA is seeking two suitably qualified and experienced individuals to manage key policy functions for the organisation moving forward.
As a Policy Manager you will work to develop and deliver good policy and political solutions for AFPA Members, and you will be a key contributor to AFPA’s policy, advocacy and communication priorities and events.
The roles available will support either AFPA’s Growers Chamber membership or AFPA’s Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts Chamber membership.
Responsibilities:
Producing detailed policy and political solutions to emerging and ongoing industry issues for the Chamber, its membership and industry value chain.
Providing secretariat and policy management for a Chamber. Membership of the Chambers includes member companies involved in either growing trees, or the business of paper, cardboard and packaging manufacturing.
Working with stakeholders involved in political advocacy across the supply chain on key issues including manufacturing, carbon policy, agricultural land use, bioenergy and communications with regional communities.
Assisting and at times leading other AFPA priorities in the advocacy space, including with Association events and other relevant projects, like seminars.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or higher in either policy, government, public administration or communications disciplines.
At least three years’ experience working in policy or government stakeholder relations, either within government or political offices, with experience in natural resources, bioenergy, agriculture and/or forestry highly regarded.
The ability and right to work full-time in Australia.

Willing to adapt and change workflows to cater for emerging and changing priorities for the Association.
