St John of God Berwick Hospital has a total of 202 beds, 8 operating theatres, a cardiac/vascular laboratory and six birthing suites. The hospital provides a wide range of services caring for inpatients, outpatients and day patients across a range of specialties including cardiology, maternity, medical and surgical, offering state of the art equipment and facilities to our rapidly growing community. The hospital has a 16 bed Critical Care Unit with 6 Intensive Care beds and 10 Cardiac/HDU beds. Our aim is to deliver the very best in health care at our Berwick Hospital.
St John of God Healthcare at Home (HAH) offers a range of out of hospital services including hospital substitution and acute and non-acute services delivered by a multidisciplinary care team of nurses, midwives, lactation consultants, allied health practitioners and support workers to assist clients recover at home after a hospital stay. The service provides more than 110,000 home care visits each year and provides nursing, midwifery and lactation support, and allied health services in the home.
Your role at St John of God Berwick Hospital
We are looking for Grade1/Grade 2 Physiotherapist to join our Berwick casual physiotherapy team to work in Acute or our Rehab in the Home services with our Healthcare at Home team. Must be available to work on weekdays (Mon- Fri).
You will be managing a caseload primarily comprising orthopaedic patients, with growth areas in musculoskeletal, cardiology. Experience with community physiotherapy and/or Rehab in Home (RITH) essential.
For candidates wanting shifts across both RITH and hospital areas, there is an opportunity to combine in this casual pool and be offered shifts across both Healthcare at Home and Berwick Hospital, so making reference to areas of interest is recommended.
As a Physiotherapist works alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical physiotherapy to clients/patients using evidence based clinical practice skills.
The Position
- Provide high quality evidence based physiotherapy assessments and treatments for all patients/clients, including the provision of hydrotherapy treatments where applicable.
- Ensure that direct working relationships are established and maintained with multi-disciplinary colleagues and internal/external customers including active participation in the multidisciplinary team meetings
- Use of Evidence Based Patient treatment outcome measures and use of Patient feedback satisfaction measures and quality assurance activities
- Participate in the physiotherapy department weekend roster if required.
- Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties arising from each session instructed. This requires liaison with the office administration team, reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation.
- Attend staff meetings and present at professional development sessions as required.
- Accepts responsibility for maintaining and strengthening own professional knowledge and expertise. Maintenance of own continuing professional development portfolio as required
- Promote a positive safety culture within their areas by demonstrating a positive commitment to OHS.
You will hold a registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Physiotherapist and will have a demonstrate senior clinical experience and leadership in clinical practice as a physiotherapist within a healthcare and disability service setting.
To succeed in this multi disciplinary team, you will have recent experience in Physiotherapy services in relevant clinical settings including the provision of hydrotherapy treatments.

- Salary Grade 1: $44.68 to $61.78 per hour (casual loading included) plus 12% superannuation
- Salary Grade 2: $60.17 to $71.96 per hour (casual loading included) plus 12% superannuation
