The Position
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Library Technician to ensure the efficient operation of the Bialik College Library (The Hub). The role will work collaboratively as part of a team and provide an optimum quality of Hub and information services to the College community (students and staff).
This is a full-time role commencing the beginning of Term 1, 2026, during school term time only, plus an additional two (2) weeks to be worked during the school holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Hub System Management
Ensure that The Hub management systems function as expected.
Manage all aspects of Library Management System (Oliver).
Start/End of Year configuration tasks, including patron import.
New staff induction to The Hub.
Manage and maintain e-book and audiobook libraries.
Hub Duties and Services
Provide The Hub technical services including all operational matters, timetabled stocktakes, collection development and maintenance.
Oversee the returns process including overdue items.
Coordinate regular weekly distribution of lists of items on loan to primary homeroom staff and ELC Library.
Responsible for operation of The Hub after hours and during school holidays including supervision of students.
Operational and promotional communications to staff and students (including newsletters, advertising new materials).
Oversee The Hub Social Media accounts.
Maintain coffee machine account records, ordering, servicing.
Collection Maintenance and Development
Develop and institute cataloguing procedures.
Coordinate collections, locations and back-end processing efficiently.
Manage sourcing and ordering resources.
Source and order memberships and subscriptions for departments.
Manage the on-line ordering system utilising Synergetic and Alii.
Maintain and catalogue memberships and subscriptions records.
Source, process and catalogue materials, such as print/electronic resources.
Role Requirements:
Relevant librarian degrees or certificates.
A proven record in a Library.
Knowledge, experience and passion for learning necessary to inspire and drive strategy.
The ability to relate to and communicate with Hub users including students from Year 2 to Year 12, teachers and staff.
Ability to map collections and content to the curriculum.
