The People Portfolio at UniSQ plays a key role in shaping and supporting a culture and work environment which puts people at the centre of organisational design, function and decision making. The team of high calibre professionals partners with the business to support delivery of UniSQ's strategic plan by delivering on the people, change and performance goals of the University.
The People Portfolio Health Safety and Wellbeing team embeds real-time action learning and coaching to strengthen leader-led safety engagement and accountability across the University. Through innovative, connected, and forward-thinking safety leadership strategies and workforce capability initiatives, the team partners with University leadership, employees, and stakeholders to foster a proactive safety culture. This approach supports the transformation of the University’s academic and research priorities over the next five years and beyond, ensuring that wellbeing and work health and safety are integral to strategic decision-making and everyday operations.
The role of Health and Safety Partner is pivotal in influencin g and embedding safety initiatives and promoting the ongoing benefits of a safety culture whilst ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Collaboration with various department and associated work units across our three campus locations in pursuit of identifying and mitigating risks, proactively implementing safety programs and ongoing education will be crucial.
Who you are
- You are an advisor and influencer and understand the importance of fostering a culture of safety excellence across the organisation
- You will have an intrinsic understanding of well-defined risk assessments and the associated benefits that can be achieved in proactively identifying, assessing, and prioritizing relevant outcomes
- You will be confident in your professional work experiences and exposure to build safety capability and forge open communication channels with a wide variety of stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Collaborate and provide front line support and advice within a partnership model
- Embed and implement best practice safety principles within a complex workplace environment
- Provide front line support in relation to relevant advice, interpretation and guidance to stakeholders in the application of WHS compliance obligations
- Ensure professional and personal conduct, both as an individual and as part of a team, and commit to regular engagement in personal, professional, and team development.
What will help you succeed
- Tertiary qualifications in Safety or a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated commitment to the benefits of ensuring robust stakeholder relationships
- Proven experience in health and safety management
- Exceptional problem-solving ability with an interest to proactively engage in high-risk activities and provide valuable insights to assist in risk mitigated decision making.

Salary: Total remuneration range $133,806 to $142,822 pa (includes salary range of $112,845 to $120,449 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
