Adelaide Plains Council is the fastest growing council area in South Australia with Two Wells at the epicenter of that growth. Council is undergoing rapid transformation in the form of residential, commercial, retail, industry and horticulture investment with further expansion of these sectors firmly on the radar of the state government’s draft Greater Adelaide Regional Plan.

Commencing mid November 2025, the Acting Director Corporate Services reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer, leading and inspiring a high functioning and diverse team.

Key responsibilities include:

Active engagement and contribution to the strategic management of Council.

Overseeing Council’s legislative framework and providing high level advice to various stakeholders.

Provision of support and regular attendance at various Council meetings and workshops.

Provision of strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Elected Members as required.

Leading the Corporate Services Department, including the oversight and management of various teams including: People and Culture, Work Health Safety, Governance and Risk, Property Management, Media, Marketing and Communications, Information Technology and Information Management and Customer Service and Administration.

Providing leadership to departmental staff to achieve Council’s vision through the development and delivery of Council’s Strategic and Business Plans.

Acting as Council’s Media Liaison Officer, ensuring strong relationships and timely and politically savvy responses are provided to media outlets.

Developing a strong customer service culture that provides an exceptional service to all stakeholders.

Creating and supporting a constructive and sustainable culture.

Coordination and oversight of Council’s Section 41 Committees, including active involvement and provision of advice to the Audit and Risk Committee.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in business, law or a related discipline, along with proven senior leadership experience in local government would be ideal.

A strong understanding of legislation, regulations and statutory requirements of Local Government, and highly developed written and verbal skills and attention to detail will be critical to success in this role.

A proven ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads and lead a multidisciplinary team, along with political awareness and professionalism will be crucial.
