ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you a veteran with a deep understanding of military culture and a passion for supporting others in their transition to civilian life?
Wodonga TAFE, in partnership with the Office of Veterans, is seeking a committed and experienced Veteran Liaison Officer (VLO) to lead a transformative initiative aimed at empowering veterans through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
This unique, project-based role will play a pivotal part in helping veterans and transitioning defence personnel convert their military experience into nationally recognised civilian qualifications. As the VLO, you will serve as a mentor, advocate, and guide—ensuring veterans are supported every step of the way.
You will work closely with the Skills and Jobs Centre team to deliver tailored career counselling and pathway planning, while also building strong partnerships with veteran organisations, military institutions, and education providers.
Selected Duties:
Serve as the primary point of contact for veterans and key project stakeholders
Design, implement, and trial RPL models specifically tailored to defence-to-civilian transitions
Provide one-on-one mentoring and advocacy to ensure veterans’ rights and entitlements are upheld
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with veteran support organisations and educational institutions
Contribute to the development of sustainable processes that can be scaled and embedded beyond the project’s duration

Veteran status with extensive military experience
Relevant degree or substantial experience in military/veteran affairs
Qualifications in Career Development, Vocational Education, or Training
Strong understanding of veteran policies, entitlements, and resources
Exceptional communication, organisational, and analytical skills
Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities
