The Position

Reporting to the Fleet Manager Queensland, the Workshop Supervisor is responsible to plan, coordinate and carry out the ongoing maintenance and minor repairs of the company’s vehicle fleet and associated equipment based at CDC’s Gladstone depot, whilst liaising with Kunda Park depot for major repairs. This position is responsible for the day to day safe and efficient running of the Gladstone mechanical workshop.
This role is a Monday - Friday role working standard hours within our workshop operations between 6am-5pm

To be considered for this role, you have:

Qualifications

Qualified Heavy Mechanic (Cert III Heavy Commercial Vehicle)

Minimum 5 years’ experience in the industry

Minimum MR licence

Experience

Transport/truck or heavy equipment related workshop experience, managing a large fleet of vehicles, in particular Mercedes Benz, MAN, Toyota vehicles

5 years diesel mechanic experience in a similar position within the bus or heavy vehicle industry

Skills

Ability to prioritise and plan work activities, identifying additional resources needed

Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor others

Computer skills, in particular the MS suite of programs

Ability to identify, analyse and resolve problems, with the ability to develop alternative solutions to problems - be innovative

Able to understand company demands, develop strategies to achieve company goals, set goals and objectives for fleet maintenance

Knowledge

Sound judgement formed by extensive practical knowledge and experience

Knowledge of bus depot operations and industry WH&S standards

General Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, carry out and monitor CDC’s vehicle servicing requirements, ensuring maintenance scheduling is adhered to, compliance with legislative requirements, whilst maintaining required fleet availability

Liaise with operational personnel to ensure required vehicles are available on a day-to-day basis – for servicing purposes and for allocation of buses to daily driving shifts

Carry out minor repairs and scheduled servicing on all CDC Gladstone based vehicles. Liaise with CDC Queensland Fleet Manager for major repairs required to be carried out by them, repair works under warranty, and paint and panel repairs
