Senior Internal Communications Advisor opportunity

  • Approx. $65-$75 per hour plus Super dependent on experience
  • Assignment duration is up to 3 months. Immediate start
  • Eastern suburbs Melbourne/Hybrid Arrangement


About the role

Government client seeks an experienced Senior Internal Communications Advisor to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 3 months based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne with an immediate start.

As the Senior Internal Communications Advisor, you will lead a strategic approach to internal communication that delivers on the Strategy & Engagement Division’s purpose and the organisation’s Strategic Plan. You will collaborate closely with the business to conceptualise, initiate, implement, promote and evaluate strategic communication programs and campaigns.

Key Accountabilities

Reporting directly into the Senior Manager, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic and integrated communication program to engage the target audience
  • Creating and executing innovative strategic communication projects and initiatives that meet customer and business needs using new technologies
  • Providing strategic communication advice to other business units to ensure maximum impact of messaging that supports the organisation’s strategic plan
  • Working in collaboration with the wider Strategy & Engagement Division to ensure integrated planning and delivery of best practice communication and engagement
  • Developing and implementing appropriate frameworks, systems, policies, procedures and reports to support the strategic communication function
  • Ensuring activities undertaken are managed responsibly and comply with legislation, organisational objectives, budget and designated timeframes
  • Monitoring and activating internal escalation protocols to effectively respond to reputational issues and implement risk mitigation frameworks as appropriate

Key Selection Criteria

The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Proven experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic communication strategies, programs and policies across a range of multi-disciplinary functions
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practice strategic internal communication approaches and principles of behaviour change
  • Experience managing large-scale strategic communication projects
  • Sound communication, analytical and business writing skills, with contemporary web based and social media technology experience
  • Proven management skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Consistent and sound judgement and ethical behaviour in making and influencing quality decisions, developing innovative solutions, leading, managing staff and team in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Understanding of financial systems and processes, and experience monitoring, managing and meeting budgets

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Communication, Public Relations, or journalism related field
  • Sound knowledge of and experience working within a government environment

Casual Loading

Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
