The Role

This role is not a traditional mental health job – it requires you to think outside the box and apply your scientific practice to a range of difficult yet interesting challenges. This role provides an exciting opportunity for you to use your expertise in an innovative and creative way to support offensive cyber operational mission areas. Key duties include:

  1. Develop and deliver resiliency training, resilience-focused interventions, and assessment services.
  2. Collaboratively and effectively engage operational teams across missions to provide consistent guidance and support to enable and support a resilient workforce.
  3. Utilise expertise across mental health disciplines in psychology, resilience, welfare, wellbeing, and working in high tempo environments.
  4. Build and sustain effective relationships, and work collaboratively to represent and advocate for ASD.
  5. Apply evidence-based resiliency practices, as well as develop processes and productive to facilitate resiliency, and support operational teams working in a high tempo, fast-paced environment.

About our Team

Do you want to be part of a new capability in ASD’s offensive cyber mission? Working within our operational psychology mission, this new position focuses on building the resilience of ASD’s offensive cyber operational staff.

This position will provide an experienced mental health or resilience professional a unique and exciting opportunity to apply their specialist knowledge and skills to support teams, and individuals performing roles that have unique psychological risks, in an operational national security environment.

The team is a world leader in working in this unique operational space and offers opportunities to work with our domestic and international partners. We are a high-performing team, who leverage their specialised and multi-disciplinary skills to contribute to critical national security outcomes, in direct support of Australian government priorities. We prioritise providing professional development and learning opportunities within the national intelligence space.

  • Draw on your specialist expertise across mental health disciplines in psychology, resilience, welfare, wellbeing, and/or working in high tempo environments, and effectively apply your expertise to a fast-paced operational environment; and
  • Apply evidence-based resiliency practices to support operational teams, the development of processes and procedures, and training programs to facilitate increased staff resiliency.

ASD is seeking applicants to fill current and anticipated vacancies and to create a merit pool for future vacancies.
