About the Role

Join the CALHN Integrated Care Refugee Health Service and make a lasting difference in the lives of refugee and asylum seeker communities. Our service is dedicated to ensuring timely and equitable access to holistic health care, recognising the impacts of trauma, forced migration, and resettlement challenges on individuals and families. As an AHP2 Social Worker, you will use your mental health expertise to deliver trauma-informed, client-centred care that promotes psycho-social wellbeing and supports successful community integration.

You will provide assessment, counselling, consultation, and education services, drawing on organisational and community resources to achieve the best outcomes for patients, families, and carers. You will also contribute to quality improvement and service development initiatives within a collaborative and supportive environment.

About You

You are a passionate and experienced Social Worker, committed to delivering trauma-informed, client-centred care that supports diverse communities and promotes long-term wellbeing.

You hold a degree-level qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership with the relevant regulatory agency, and demonstrate strong skills in psychosocial assessment, care planning, trauma-informed interventions, and complex clinical decision-making.

You bring significant experience in health care settings, working with individuals impacted by trauma, chronic disease, and social disadvantage, along with a background in project development, evaluation, and supervision of staff or students.

You demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with interpreters, support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) clients, and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

You have comprehensive knowledge of social work theories, trauma-informed therapeutic models, gender-specific and CALD health issues, and the social determinants of health across diverse populations.
