About the job
The Senior Family Clinician – Family Assertive Support Team (FAST) is a specialist leadership role responsible for implementing, delivering and overseeing the FAST Track Clinic at headspace Melton. The Senior Family Clinician will provide clinical leadership, operational oversight, and supervision to a multidisciplinary team, including a Family Peer Work Adviser and a Youth Peer Worker.
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager you will:
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentoring to staff and students, supporting complex case management and fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary team approach.
- Lead the development and implementation of the FAST clinic model, ensuring family engagement, timely access to care, and delivery of high-quality, family-focused interventions.
- Deliver assertive, youth and family-friendly services, including assessments, brief interventions, outreach, and care coordination, aligned with headspace’s Family Inclusive Practice (FIP) model.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with young people, families, and key stakeholders, promoting family-inclusive practice and effective integration with local health and welfare services.
- Ensure quality service delivery through accurate documentation, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities, while engaging in supervision and professional development.
Our headspace sites operate after 5pm multiple times a week, availability to work across rotating shifts required.
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing) and full registration with AHPRA or AASW (or eligibility for).
- Established expertise in youth mental health, family support, AOD, or community health services, with strong skills in family-inclusive interventions.
- Clinical experience in assessment, care planning, crisis intervention, brief treatment, and working collaboratively with families/carers.
- Proven ability to provide clinical supervision and support to staff, students, and lived experience workers within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in contributing to service delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement, with sound knowledge of evidence-based practice.
- Strong understanding of the issues impacting young people and families, relevant legislation and policy, and a commitment to ethical and professional practice.

This is a part time (0.6 FTE) contract until December 17, 2027.
