About the Role
This role delivers front line riparian advisory, technical and extension services to farmers, community and industries within Hunter LLS that help them manage our landscapes to be healthy and productive. You will also apply riverine expertise to develop and implement onground river rehabilitation projects that address complex riparian land management issues by improving riparian vegetation and river health and resilience.
To be successful in this role you will have expertise and genuine interest in river rehabilitation and experience in delivering extension services that engage rural landholders and industries in riparian practice change. This role will work in the upper Hunter district.
Key Outcomes
- Provide effective field-based advisory, technical and extension services that support rural landholders, community groups and stakeholders to improve riparian land management practices and rehabilitate rivers.
- Develop and deliver onground catchment based riparian revegetation projects that improve river health and resilience.
- Engage the community and build capacity in improving river and catchment health and resilience.
- Collaborate to plan, implement and review major projects and services.
- Lead and facilitate partnerships with key stakeholders including landholders, community groups, industries and agencies to address complex natural resource and agricultural practice change issues.
- Manage delivery of onground river rehabilitation projects including project, budget and contract management, according to procurement and operational guidelines and legislative requirements.
- Project monitoring, evaluation, reporting and improvement.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant knowledge and experience in agricultural, environmental, natural resource management, biosecurity and or emergency management.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to travel.
- Ability and willingness to undertake a police check and medical clearance.
- Experience in in riparian issues and management.
- Excellent communication, coordination and negotiation skills.
- Highly collaborative, with ability to work independently.
- High level of customer service including experience in working with rural landholders and stakeholders.
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, contracting, monitoring and reporting.
- High level ability to deliver results with accountability in natural resource, riverine and or catchment management.
- Ability to use computer-based mapping programs, such as ArcGIS.
- Experience and or skills in native vegetation and or river geomorphology identification highly desirable.
