Casual Event Assistants and Catering/ Kitchen Hand

Stone & Chalk is Australia’s leading innovation hub, bringing together startups, scaleups, investors, industry and government to shape the future of emerging technology. We’re hiring Casual Events Staff to help us deliver outstanding events in our Sydney hub at 477 Pitt Street, Haymarket.

About the Role

We’re looking for energetic, professional, and flexible casual staff to join our Sydney events team. Shifts vary depending on event schedules, offering flexibility to work around your availability. Whether your strengths are in hospitality and guest services or catering support, you’ll play a key part in creating memorable experiences for our community.

We are currently seeking casuals across two focus areas:

Events Assistant (FOH) – welcoming guests, food & beverage service, room set up/pack down, registration, and assisting with basic AV/tech support

Catering/Kitchen Hand (BOH) – food prep, catering support, stock and equipment management, and back-of-house logistics

What We’re Looking For

At least 2 years’ experience in hospitality, events, or customer service

Exceptional presentation and a customer-first approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently and use initiative

Flexibility to work weeknights and after-hours shifts

RSA (for FOH roles), Food Handling Certificate (for BOH roles)

AV/technical experience is highly regarded (training provided if needed)
