About the Role

The Library Specialist (Open Education & Copyright) plays a key role in supporting open education and copyright awareness, at Flinders University. This position focuses on advocacy, engagement, and collaboration with the academic community to promote open education and equitable knowledge sharing.

Working across teams, this position involves providing advice on open licensing and copyright, supporting compliance, and contributing to a culture of open scholarship. A values-driven approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.

About You

As the successful Library Specialist (Open Education & Copyright), you will bring relevant experience or a combination of education and training, along with a strong interest in open education and copyright. You will have a working understanding of Australian copyright legislation or a willingness to learn, and you will be passionate about supporting open education and equitable learning.

You will be a clear communicator who enjoys building relationships and engaging with academic staff and students. You will be organised, proactive, and confident in delivering training, creating resources, and contributing to collaborative projects.

In addition to the above, you will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to apply project methodology and manage deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs and outreach efforts and to develop, design and deliver training programs, educative resources, and professional activities, including workshops and communities of practice.
  • General to broad knowledge of trends in copyright, open scholarship, open education practice, and scholarly publishing in higher education.
