Applications are invited for the position of Secondary Classroom Teacher in our Waymaker Program at our Carrum Downs campus. We are seeking a caring and passionate educator with a strong understanding of, and commitment to, Christian education. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in working with disengaged youth, neurodivergent students, and those experiencing mental health challenges.

Key attributes and experience:

Proven ability to engage and support students with complex needs

Experience in teaching Mathematics will be highly advantageous

Recent trauma-informed teaching experience with disengaged secondary students is highly regarded

A relevant post-graduate qualification in education, special education, or mental health would be considered favourably

Flinders Christian Community College is a co-educational, non–denominational College with campuses located at Tyabb, Carrum Downs, and Mt. Martha offering education from K – 12.

The Waymaker Program opened its doors in January 2025 to provide high-quality education for students who cannot attend normal school due to anxiety, depression or PTSD. The Centre is located on the Carrum Downs Campus and is intended to provide a differentiated learning program in a counter-stress environment better suited to the needs and routines of these students than a mainstream setting. We seek to see these students grow and thrive in their social connectedness, wellbeing and learning, through belonging, believing and becoming in a way that equips them to live a full and purposeful life.
