About Burketown?

Situated between Savannah grasslands and the vast saltpans of the Gulf of Carpentaria, Burketown nestles beside the picturesque Albert River, some 200km by road from Normanton and approximately 900km west of Cairns.

Burketown offers a relaxed small country town vibe with genuine cultural experiences connecting you with aboriginal people and culture. The local community prides itself in being able to offer fantastic fishing and hunting experiences as well as nature walks and photography including photographing birds such as the threatened Sarus Crane.

About the Opportunities

We are looking to employ two trade qualified mechanics to deliver a professional service to the Burketown community. Positions available include:

Workshop Supervisor - This is a hands-on position requiring the successful applicant to be “on the tools” while supervising staff and fulfilling day-to-day ordering and administration tasks relevant to workshop operations.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate experience leading and achieving quality service delivery outcomes in a similar position. Alternately, you are trade qualified and are looking to step up into a supervisory position and can demonstrate the necessary leadership, communication and customer service skills required to be successful in the position.

Mechanic – Sound trade skills with a breadth of mechanical knowledge suitable for a remote community workshop.

Although not essential, applicants with a HR truck license, Dangerous Goods license, Forklift ticket and experience working in indigenous communities will be highly regarded.
