Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and performance of our expanding fleet and equipment while being part of a supportive and fast-paced environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing our diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, plant, and civil equipment. You will be provided with a fully equipped Diesel Mechanic van/vehicle for field servicing, while also working in our yard to ensure all fleet maintenance and scheduled services are up to date.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake service, maintenance, and repairs to all mechanical plant and equipment including but not limited to:
Forklifts, material handling grabs, and mobile port cranes
Light vehicles, trucks, excavators, loaders, terminal tractors, and generators
Hydraulic and diesel-powered equipment
Small plant including petrol and diesel-powered pumps and generators
Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and related components across a wide range of plant and heavy vehicles.
Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections in line with manufacturer requirements and company procedures.
Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and respond to breakdowns on-site to rescue and support the team.
Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and breakdown repairs both on site and in the yard.
Operate diagnostic and testing equipment to assess mechanical issues.
Carry out welding, fabrication, and mechanical adjustments where required.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date service records, job sheets, and compliance documentation.
Order parts, manage vehicle stock, and ensure inventory levels are appropriately maintained.
Ensure all fleet, machinery, and tools are kept in safe and reliable working order.
Liaise with supervisors and operators to prioritise repairs and minimise downtime.
Adhere to WHS requirements, safe work procedures, and contribute to a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Always represent Convil Group in a responsible and professional manner.
Skills and Qualifications
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent nationally recognised qualification).
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in servicing, diagnostics, and repairs of heavy vehicles and plant.
Proven skills in diagnostics, fault finding, and mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
Strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Current driver’s licence (HR licence preferred).
