Accountant – Team Leader

We currently have a rare opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant - Team Leader to join our close-knit Accounts Department.
Based in our Waterloo dealership, this role is responsible for the processing and administration management of payment runs for our Corporate Finance team.
This is a permanent, full-time role and will require you to supervise the Accounts team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Team Leadership:
Assist in the recruitment process including sifting through and selection of applicants for interviews, conducting job interviews and collaborative effort in the selection process.
Lead, train, and develop the Accounts team to ensure they meet their individual and department KPI’s.
Prepare and conduct annual staff performance reviews with the Company Accountant.
Contribute to system/process improvement initiatives within the Accounts Department.
Department support including coverage of Accounts roles during absenteeism and resignations.
Weekly WIP meetings with AR and AP staff to control ageing trial balance
Accounting:
Daily and weekly payment authorisation
EOM processes / responsibilities
EOFY processes / responsibilities
Monthly Business Activity Statement
Monthly Management Meeting reporting as well as other miscellaneous/adhoc reporting
Monthly and Quarterly General Ledger reconciliations
Set up new vendor/suppliers in the DMS including due diligence works.
Preparation of ABS surveys and other regulatory reports or submissions
The skills and attributes that are needed for this role may include:
Proven experience in a similar Senior / Team Leadership position in managing a team and having direct reports is essential.
High attention to detail.
Automotive / Motor industry experience is preferred.
Tertiary education in Accounting.
Experience in using TUNE/RevolutionNext (an Automotive Dealership Management System - DMS) is highly desirable.
Advanced computer software skills, particularly in Excel is mandatory.
Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships and foster a close-knit team bonding environment.
